Königssee

Königssee

Königssee lies to the south of Berchtesgaden. Located at the foot of the Watzmann, it takes in the entire valley at up to 190 metres deep and 8 km in length. Berchtesgaden National Park has been in existence since 1978, with Königssee in its centre. The historic pilgrimage church Sankt Bartholomä in front of Watzmann-Ostwand can be reached by ship. Ship landing stages: Königssee, St. Bartholomä, Salet, Kessel.

As long as Königssee is not iced over, it can be navigated year-round. You can get to Schönau on Königssee from the Blobergerhof first of all via the Alpine road, then follow Berchtesgaden Strasse to the border for Germany. After the border drive on the B305, then take a left turn into Königseerstraße (B20), follow this, then drive to Seestrasse. You can now see Schönau and the wonderful Königssee.
